LADIES’ PENNANTS / INTERCLUB

Weekend Pennant – Pam Bisset and Colleen Daysh had a clean sweep against Feilding at Marton on Sunday 4th February, and on Sunday 18th February, Pam and Steph Tisdall had a half with Rangitikei at Foxton. Our team is tied in first place at present. Next round is at Waimarino Sunday 10th March against Wanganui. The team is Colleen Daysh and Bronwyn Smith.

Monday Pennant - on 12th February our team were well beaten 2-6 by the local team in round one at Rangatira. In round 2 Lisa Cotton, Pam BIsset, Steph Tisdall, Seona Ashton, Mary Bollard and Trish Cuttance reversed this score with a resounding 6-2 win over Levin at Castlecliff. Well done, team.

Riverside Cup – A Pahiatua ladies’ team has been invited to take part in the Wairarapa interclub competition which includes Eketahuna, Carterton, Martinborough, Masterton and Riversdale Beach. Our ladies are looking forward to this new challenge; the first round is being played Friday 1st March vs Eketahuna at Carterton. Good luck to our team of Steph Tisdall, Deb Henricksen, Lynne Huddleston, Pam Huddleston, Seona Ashton and Sue Ross.

MEN’S PENNANTS / MARQUIS SHIELD

Pennant – In round one here at home our team took out a close 5/4 win against Feilding. The team was Danny Pierey, Jason Smith, Noel Coombe, Nigel Pearson, Lee Thomson and Shaun Smith. Well done guys! The next round is at Palmerston North on Saturday 9th March playing the home team.

Marquis Shield – First up round against our neighbours Eketahuna at Carterton, we went down by the narrowest of margins – one match! 8 ½ - 9 ½.The singles were tied, as were two divisions of fourball. The third fourball had a score of ½ to 1½. Early days, guys, well done on results so far. The team was: Senior – Danny Pierey, Keiran Pierey, Shaun Smith and Jason Smith. Intermediate – Nigel Pearson, Lionel Toheriri, Jared Brock and Jamie Smith  Juniors – Brett MacDougall, Mark Thomson, Jason Kelly and Graham Thomson.

Overall, the team is 4th in Marquis Shield, 2nd in Workman Cup (seniors off-the-stick), 1st= Intermediate Trophy and 5th in the Junior Sutherland trophy. The next tie is at Mahunga versus Masterton on 21st April
