MEN’S CHAMPIONSHIPS 2022 – IMPORTANT NEWS GUYS!!!

Men’s registration form for all grades to play club championships is on the men’s changing room noticeboard. Please print your name on the form if you wish to play in the club champs this year by 21st May. You will not be automatically entered.

Please note: Club Championship finals are on Saturday 3rd September with the reserve day (if needed) on Sunday 4th September. You need to be available to play those days.

PENNANTS/INTERCLUB/DISTRICT

Marquis Shield – the team played Mahunga at Carterton on Sunday and had a good team win 4 – 0. The seniors (Danny Pierey, Jason Smith, Noel Coombe and Shaun Smith) lost their singles matches 1½ - 2 ½ and their fourballs ½ - 1.  Intermediates (Nigel Pearson, Steven McHardy, Colin Duey Wallace and Mark Tommo Thomson) won their singles 3-1 and halved their fourballs. Finally, the juniors Mark Hemopo, Peter Johns, Todd McHardy and Peter Bourke also won their singles 3-1 and won both their fourballs. The final result 11 games to 7.

Overall standings after two rounds has our team leading in the Marquis Shield (8 points), 4th in the Workman Cup (4½), 3rd in the Intermediate Cup (5) and 1st in the Sutherland Trophy with 6 points. The team’s next round is at Masterton versus Masterton on Sunday 22nd May.

Weekend Pennant - Colleen and Bronwyn won all three matches against Palmerston North 2 at Rangatira on Sunday. A good finish for the pennant team who finished 4th= in their first year back playing in this competition.

Monday Pennants – The team to play Rangatira Blue at Marton on Monday is Pam Bisset, Deb Henricksen, Margaret Brislane, Paula McCool, Seona Ashton and Trish Cuttance. Good luck ladies.

NATIONAL TEAMS FINAL – Ladies National Teams final was held at Levin on Friday 29th. This is a 4-person 4BBB in pairs. Our players were Pam Bisset and Margaret Alding (nett 70) and Colleen Daysh and Pam Huddleston (nett 67), while the team score of 137 was creditable, they were 10 shots off the eventual winners, Feilding.
