SECRETARY – I am delighted to inform you all that we have been fortunate enough to enlist the services of Leigh-Anne Gear to take on secretarial and administrative tasks on behalf of the committee and club. Thank you Leigh-Anne, this will be a big help.
RIP FORMER MEMBER ANNE OWEN – Anne passed away aged 89 on Sunday 28th at Palmerston North Hospital. From our records, Anne played as a 9-holer from 2005 until 2009. She attended our ladies’ Christmas lunch for former members in November last year. Her daughter Anita McCool was also a member until she moved away. A sympathy card has been sent to her family on behalf of club members.
DONALD VASES – This Sunday 5th July, 27-hole Mixed Canadian foursomes – best nett, tee off at 9.30. Arrange own partner, please. Haggle is $5 each person.
FROM THE COMMITTEE MEETING – SOME SNIPPETS:
Delivery of the poles for the fence on #17 to be delivered (have been at time of writing)
We are teaming up with FlexiToursNZ who we hope will promote green fee trips to play at Pahiatua. They are hoping to also work in with the Brewery. There is no cost to our club.
We are following up on suitable dates for the next NZMHA tournament in conjunction with Dannevirke and Eketahuna,
MWGA training for coaching volunteers is to be undertaken one evening in July. Volunteers who have put their names forward will be contacted when a date has been settled on. Training will be in the Bush Multisport Rooms.
Firewood – has restarted. In the previous week S Huddleston, P Galvin, G Smith and P Johns have been busy splitting wood. S Cullen and Jason have cut up the blue gums by the 17th green ready to split. We appreciate what is being done by the tree people. They are doing a tremendous job.
The slicer has been put through the greens. Spraying is being carried out. Coring will be done in the spring.
Some caravanners staying at the Mangatainoka River are using our facilities when they should not be. If members see this happening, they should challenge them just as you would someone playing without paying their green fees. We are investigating installing coin-operated machines for the shower.
The meeting has approved in principle that we investigate the purchase of a new fairway mower. Maintenance on our present mower is costly, and some parts are now obsolete, it is on its “last legs”.
