PENNANTS AND INTERCLUB:

Zones: Our men have had their first outing in the Manawatu-Wanganui Zones competition and had a good 4-2 win over Palmerston North at Manawatu. Well done to the team of Campbell MacGibbon, Kieran Pierey, Steven McHardy and Richard Stewart. Zones is a sudden death matchplay interclub played “off the stick”, with singles and fourball matches played concurrently. If I’m reading the draw correctly, our guys will play either Feilding or Manawatu on or by Sunday 28th July. Good luck, team.

Silver Pennant: Unfortunately, our pennant ladies were unable to continue their earlier winning ways and went down to Levin at Marton on Monday. Pennants are now completed, the ladies finishing 5th from 10 teams. Convenor Deb Henricksen thanks the players who made themselves available for selection. There will be a Pennant dinner when players/supporters are home from holidays.

 COMING UP THIS WEEK:

Thursday – usual haggle competition 12.15pm. Hopefully you will get some play this week!

Saturday – Round 1 of 4 Bourke Cup Stableford rounds, senior (up to 18 handicap) and junior divisions (19 handicap and over).  3 best of the 4 rounds count for the cups.

Saturday and Tuesday – Ladies LGU Gold medal and stableford button, MBM round 3 and 3rd qualifying. Those who were unable to play their final Trethella round have permission to play this along with LGU/qualifying.

Sunday – Round 2 of 3 Donald & Williams Salvers Mixed Foursomes (Nett). If you missed the first round, it’s not too late to play in the Salvers, but you need to play in both remaining rounds – next one is on 11th August.

 MONSIGNOR BRIAN WALSH

I reported recently that former member Brian was taken ill in Australia enroute home from South Africa. I’m happy to advise that he is now home in Palmerston North and back working on light duties.

 MISSING FORK:

One of our gardening volunteers has lost her trusty garden fork. It has a wooden handle, is pretty old, but is a treasured tool. It could be in the area around the garden at the right of number 1 green or perhaps somewhere between there and the carpark. Let me know if you find it please and I will reunite it with the owner.
