ROSEANNE SUTTON – RIP: Sadly, I report to you the news of the sudden death of Roseanne on Friday night. Serving as the Ladies’ Club Captain some years ago, Roseanne was knowledgeable in, and a stickler for adhering to the rules of golf. In recent years, she was one of the ladies who ran the Melbourne Cup sweepstakes, and afterwards, she faithfully followed up with paying out the lucky winners. Melbourne Cup day won’t be the same. Our condolences go out to Phillip and the family. She will be missed by many.

Could those attending her funeral please wear the club uniform as we have been asked to form a guard of honour after the service - which is to be held at the Anglican Church, Albert Street at 1.30pm on Friday 31st May.

LADIES PENNANTS: Our pennant teams had mixed results at Feilding yesterday, Silver losing 3 ½ to 2 ½ to Manawatu thus knocking us out of first into second place. Better news for the District team who almost completed a clean sweep, beating Palmerston North 4 ½ to ½. Well done, ladies. The team will be playing off for a 3rd or 4th placing overall.

NEW MEMBER: Welcome to Koben Hanks, a new junior member who has recently joined our club. We hope you enjoy being part of the golfing world, Koben! Say Hi if you see him around.

CLUB JERSEYS: Pam Huddleston is looking at doing an order for club jerseys and vests. The jerseys are $95 and vests are $85. Please give Pam a call on 376 5625 if you are interested in acquiring one of these.

MONSIGNOR BRIAN WALSH: Some of you will remember Brian Walsh, a former member late of our parish and now serving in Palmerston North. He is currently in Sydney hospital and, we hope, recovering from a medical incident that was discovered when his flight landed in Sydney enroute from South Africa to NZ. His condition has improved and I’m sure members wish him a speedy and complete recovery.

QUEEN’S BIRTHDAY WEEKEND: Have a wonderful holiday weekend – the last for a few months! Be safe, and take care on the roads if you are travelling. Otherwise, good golfing!
