- Jason congratulates all the players for our interclub successes at the weekend.
- The draws for the Day and Carthew Cups and the Fourball Championship are up and players are asked to please get their matches underway.
- Club Championship finals this Sunday 26th May, tee times below.
LADIES’ PENNANTS / INTERCLUB
Riverside Cup – On Friday at home our team of Pam Bisset, Steph Tisdall, Lynne Huddleston, Seona Ashton, Trish Cuttance and Raewyn Newman beat Carterton 4-2. The team is now in second equal place. The final round will be played at Riversdale Beach this Friday where we meet the home team. Team is Steph, Pam Huddleston, Lynne, Sue Ross, Trish and Raewyn. All the best!
Weekend Pennant – On Sunday, 5th May, our team of Pam Bisset and Steph lost to leaders Wanganui at Castlecliff. Wanganui went on to win all three matches in the finals on Sunday.
NOTE – I erroneously reported last newsletter that Pam and Bronwyn halved with Manawatu at Feilding on 14th April when in fact they WON the encounter. Sorry about that, ladies.
Monday Pennant – Round 5 at Feilding versus Marton on 13th May, our team of Lisa Cotton, Pam Bisset, Steph Tisdall, Pam Huddleston, Lynne Huddleston, and Seona Ashton lost 3/5.
Pennant semi-finals are to be played at Palmerston North on Monday 27th. The team is Lisa, Steph, Pam Huddleston, Lynne, Paula McCool and Seona. Good luck, ladies.
MEN’S PENNANTS / MARQUIS SHIELD
Pennant – WE ARE THE E GRADE PENNANT CHAMPIONS FOR 2024. The team of Tawera Williams, Danny Pierey, Lee Thomson, Keiran Pierey, Nigel Pearson, and Noel Coombe beat Manawatu 6½ - 2½. The finals were played at Linton Camp, a first for many playing at that tricky course. Even getting in there is a bit of a mission.
Marquis Shield – On Sunday after a busy but successful few days for our club representatives, the Marquis Shield team of Jared Brock, Shaun Smith, Nigel Pearson, Steve McHardy, Mark Hemopo, Brett MacDougall, Colin Wallace, Logan McHardy, Lionel Toheriri, Peter Bourke and Mark Thomson beat Mahunga 11½ to 6½ at Masterton. Well done! Our team is in now leading in Marquis Shield by ½ point from Martinborough who we play here on 9th June. In other divisions, we are still 2nd= in Workman Cup (off the stick for seniors), two points behind Martinborough, leading in the Intermediate Cup by 3 points and 3rd in the Junior Sutherland Trophy. Stunning results, team.
9-HOLE THURSDAY LADIES

A clarification about relief from the poplars and surrounding area On #12, Poplars, if you are in and around the poplar trees, there is NO free relief. A ball in this area is classed as UNPLAYABLE, for relief options see Rule 19.2 options a, b or c, in each case adding ONE PENALTY STROKE. The grass mown area around the trees is fairway. Anytime you are uncertain about relief or a rule, in the first instance, check the local rules on the back of the card or on the blackboard in the alleyway. The card clearly states no free relief in the poplars. |
