EMAIL FROM OUR SECRETARY – Thursday evening (if you are not receiving these messages from Margaret, please send her an email - pahiatuagolfclub@gmail.com)

At this stage (subject to no more heavy rain) our course will be open tomorrow - we ask that carts and bikes are not used.  Please use your discretion as it is so wet and we want to protect our course.

Our thoughts are with other members who are unwell at the moment - PLEASE call me and I will arrange help if you need it.

We will have an update on Saturday re: Marquis Shield on Sunday.

Please stay safe, Cheers, Margaret

REMINDERSATURDAY trial tee time is 11.15am until at least the end of August. Please note the information given last Saturday that tee off time was 11am was erroneous.

TC GOLF ADJUNCT NEWS: TC Day has been postponed until next Saturday 6th August, sponsors are Pam and Stu Huddleston and they are unable to make it this weekend.

MARQUIS SHIELDThis information is correct as at Thursday evening – any news of a postponement will come out from the secretary on Saturday, as will everything we need to know about course closures – check your emails.

Sunday 31st July is D-Day for our team playing Eketahuna here at home – tee off is from 11am. As previously reported, these two teams are tied on 11 points each in the Marquis Shield, and leading in the Sutherland Trophy (Junior section). The team for Sunday is Senior: Danny Pierey and Noel Coombe, Shaun Smith and Jason Smith, Intermediate: Nigel Pearson and Steve McHardy, Colin Wallace and Logan McHardy, Junior: Mark Thomson and Peter Johns, Todd McHardy and Lionel Toheriri. On standby are Pete Timmins, Mark Hemopo and Peter Bourke.

I’m sure the guys would appreciate your support, head on out to cheer them along. Good luck!

PHANTOM OF THE OPEN movie is here at the Pahiatua Regent. I saw it tonight, having the theatre to myself. It’s about Maurice Flitcroft, a dreamer and unrelenting optimist who manages to enter the British Open qualifying in 1976 subsequently shooting the worst round in Open history, becoming a folk hero in the process. I enjoyed it and so would most golfers, but we would probably say he was a silly old coot. The next two sessions are this weekend, Saturday at 4pm and Sunday at 3pm, you might as well plan to go as it seems it’s unlikely you will be playing golf. Click here to view the trailer.
