WORLD HANDICAP SYSTEM – There are now some videos on the NZ Golf website (click here). They are informative albeit a bit repetitive. If you can’t open this, just go to www.golf.co.nz, click the About the game tab, then Handicapping 2020. We shouldn’t notice much change, although your handicap index can change daily. The changes will come into effect in January.

FROM THE COMMITTEE MEETING

EFTPOS the eftpos machine is ready to be installed by the cards at the front of the building. Visitors will be able to pay their green fees and motorhome charges using this and members will be able to pay for cart hire. There is no facility to get cash out. Hopefully this will be up and running by the weekend.

Firewood Sales – we have pine firewood for sale and available now. Please contact Gerald Smith on his mobile 021 239 0217 or at home, if you are interested or know someone after firewood.

H&S – we have to have a Hazard ID board for all those entering the course to be able to see/read. There is a hardcopy upstairs of the case study regarding Whitford Park fine and penalties after the recent incident that saw one of their members injured whilst using a woodsplitter. Interesting reading.

Placing throughout the general area has been removed – placing is now only 15cm on own fairway.

Coring to begin as soon as practicable. This will consist of dethatching and fine tine coring.

Low hanging branches are to be cut back, cleaned up and removed. Other broken branches had been cleaned up – then the wind came!

Twilight to start soon – date to be confirmed

Transferred to general committee - $4000 from Bar account, $2500 from Ladies.

LADY MEMBERS SUCCESS AT RIVERSDALE BEACH

7 of our members went to Riversdale Beach last weekend to play in the Ladies’ 54 hole tournament. Kay Ball won her flight with our Ladies’ club captain Sue Ross as runner-up.

Kay also won the Toni McKelvey Cup for best combined stableford scores of 38 and 41. Kay’s 41 score was good enough to win her and her teammates $250 each in the Calcutta.

Pam Huddleston and Colleen Daysh were both “horses” after good scores on Saturday but unfortunately didn’t find the conditions so good for scoring on Sunday.

Colleen was top qualifier on Saturday with a score of 67 gross.
